How We Research
Every guide on CabinetCall starts with one question: will this product work for the person who is shopping for it? For our greenhouse guides, that means your yard, the weather where you live and what you want to grow.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with your yard and your climate
A pop-up greenhouse, a walk-in tunnel and a polycarbonate kit suit different yards and different winters.
We check the floor size, the cover and the frame the maker lists. When your space or your weather limits the choice, we say what to look for.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at floor size and height, frame material, cover type, panel thickness, door and vent design, shelves and anchoring.
Eagle Peak, VEVOR, Ohuhu, Miracle-Gro and other makers describe their covers and frames in their own words, so we name the brand for every claim. We also note the warranty terms the maker lists.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read through what buyers report after setting up a greenhouse. We look for patterns, like torn covers, bent frames, hard assembly, doors that don't close or vents that are hard to use.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A greenhouse that's great for a mild climate may score lower in a guide written for cold winters.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Products change, and some disappear from stores. Many greenhouses are sold under several similar names and sizes, so we check each model name and code, and we only link new units.
We also look for recall notices before we link a model.
When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have built or used every greenhouse we cover.
Light plastic and pop-up greenhouses are not made for storms. For anchoring, wind, snow and heating, follow the maker's manual and your local conditions, and use a licensed electrician for any hookup.
Our guides don't replace the maker's manual. We give no wind or snow load figures, and when a maker makes a claim, we label it as the maker's claim.
